On Thursday I arrived at the airport where I was introduced to my living companions, peers, new friends, and of course a spirited professor. After seventeen hours of travel being thrown from one continent to the next I finally arrived in Berlin. As we boarded the bus to Alexanderplatz my sleepy eyes were awaken with the beauty of the city - the colors, the hustle and bussel, the rail-system, and much more! I had finally arrived to my home for the next five weeks! As we arrived at Alexanderplatz I was bombarded with the culture of Berlin! Musicians playing for a euro or two, Turkish women begging for money, and of course the bratwurst man (mmm). Two stops on the subway and we finally made it to our hostel as thoughts of a hot shower and sleep filled my head they were soon dismissed by the professors for fear of jet lag! So us students went around the neighborhood looking for anything to keep us awake! That is when we discovered Hilda’s Cafe owned by a lovely woman named Tina. The beginning of a beautiful friendship. Professor Henneberg then took us on a neighborhood tour where she pointed out local hot spots, cafes, laundry services, and of course the best ice cream shops in the area. We then had dinner at the hostel and twenty-four hours of traveling later I was introduced to my bed for the next five weeks and that night was the best sleep I ever had! Welcome to Berlin let the adventure begin …
